This Story Will Leave You In Stitches
It’s been two weeks since Rebekah was born, and its time for me to head back to work. Of course, this leaves Karin stuck at home with the kids, unable to drive due to the C-section. Not one to let a little inconvenience like driving stop her, Karin decided to take a walk with the kids to McDonald’s for lunch, about a quarter mile from the house. They made it about 3/4 of the way.
It was a quiet day at work. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things and catch up on the work I was finishing up before I left. About 12:30, I got a call. From Karin. Telling me I needed to come home. Now.
So much for getting anything done my first day back.
It seems that on their way to McDonald’s, Christopher made a last minute cut in front of the stroller, tripped over the front wheel, and went head first into one of the columns, smacking his forehead right on the corner. Lots of crying and bleeding ensued while I rushed home to get the van and take everyone down to the doctor’s office.
By the time I arrived, Christopher had mostly recovered from the shock and had decided to take a little nap. He woke up when I put him in his car seat and was telling me all about what had happened when we reached the doctor’s office.
The doctors checked out his 3/4 inch gash in his forehead and reached the same conclusion Karin and I had. He needed stitches.
Christopher was a real trooper. He didn’t cry one bit while they numbed him up or stitched his forehead closed. Just flinched a couple times due to the sharp pain. When all was said and done, he was ready to go get his stickers and sucker and head back to McDonald’s for lunch.
He’s doing well. There are no signs of concussion, which we are thankful for. But he’s going to have a nice scar to remember this experience by. Plus the few pics that I managed to capture of the event. As his GrandDad put it, he has now become a “big boy”, complete with a badge to prove it. Let’s just keep the total number of badges to a minimum, ok?
