Visiting the GrandKids: Space Needle
With the first half of their vacation over, it was time to wind things down a little for GrandMom and GrandDad. Thursday was spent mostly hanging around the house, and going shopping. We also stopped by the park for the kids to ride their bikes.
Thursday night, however, was the big dinner out for the grown ups. We loaded into my car and headed into downtown Seattle to visit the Space Needle. Karin and I have been there for dinner several times, but this was GrandMom and GrandDad’s first visit.
We headed up to the observation desk and looked around the city. GrandDad kept swearing that he could feel the tower swaying. But I think that was mostly in his head. Since I had the camera with me, I took the opportunity to capture a few pictures of the cityscape and mountains.
And then it was time for dinner. The special that night was Prime Rib. And boy was it good. So good that we all ordered it. And there was nothing left to take home. Mmmm.
Finally, with dinner over, and a few minutes remaining until sunset, it was back up to the observation deck for me to shot some more pictures and capture the sunset. It was quite spectacular. The entire week was clear and sunny with temps in the 80s, which made for quite a beautiful sunset.
With the sun down, we headed back down the elevator to the gift shop. We spent what seemed like an hour in there helping GrandMom find gifts for everyone back home. Finally, we left and took a walk around the grounds of Seattle Center, stopping for a requisite shot with the Space Needle before heading back to pick up the car and head home.
Only one full day left on the vacation, so it’s time to head to the kid’s favorite attraction, the Point Defiance Zoo.
