Swiffer Carpet Flick puts your toddler to work: Parent Hacks

It’s amazing how fast kids can destroy a room. Take my kids for example. They can get up in the morning and go sit on the couch in the living room that has been cleaned up. And within 20 minutes, they can have the floor covered in toys, blankets, and pillows. And if we give them a snack, like popcorn or chips, it invariably ends up on the floor.

Since neither kids wants to clean up their toys, it usually falls to my wife and I to pick up after them. Although threatening to throw the toys is a good motivator for my 3 year old.

But cleaning up the toys only solves half the problem. Now that the clutter is picked up, we still have the food mess to deal with. And the kids are much less willing to help with that.

To combat this, Parent Hacks had a suggestion on getting your kids to help clean: hand them a Swiffer Carpet Flick. It’s light, easy to operate, has a sticky board in it to ensure they don’t just move the crumbs around, and can be made short enough for them to operate.

We just bought a Swiffer Carpet Flick and he immediately wanted to do it “by myself.” It was a little too long for him to actually use it, until I took out two of the middle sections in the pole. Now it is the perfect size and he runs around on the carpet actually doing work for us, plus he gets to see the crud being picked up inside the Swiffer. We may have to buy a second one for ourselves.

We haven’t had an opportunity to try it out yet, but we’re seriously considering it. Just need to make a trip to WalMart so that we can get one. Look out kids, chores are on their way.
