Missing Oma
My parents made it to the east coast in one piece and have had a couple days hanging out with my brother and his family. They seem to be having a good time visiting the area. But things are a bit harder on the home front.
Bethany has been having severe episodes of missing her Oma. She understands that Oma and Opa are visiting her cousins, but that doesn’t mean she likes that they aren’t around. Usually around bedtime she will start wanting to see or talk to Oma, complete with tears and plaintive cries. We can usually calm her, but it takes a few minutes.
Oma has been calling ever night to talk to the kids and tell them goodnight, and I’m sure Bethany likes hearing from her. But it also triggers a bout of tears that need to be dried.
We still have a few more days until Oma and Opa get home. And I’m sure both kids are going to want to spend lots of time with them.
