I was awakened at 5AM this morning to the sound of the phone ringing on my nightstand. It was my parents reminding me that I need to get up and take them to the airport. Now, I don’t normally get up this early. Usually, I’m a 7AM kinda guy. And with the time change, right now I’m closer to an 8AM guy. But, I had agreed to this deal, so I dragged myself out of bed.

Took me about 10 minutes to get dressed and drive the 500 feet down the street to pick them up. We hit the drive through for some breakfast, and headed for the airport. Traffic was a little sluggish in places, but we made it to the airport just after 6AM, leaving them plenty of time before the 7:30 flight.

Having dropped them off, I was left with the conundrum of what to do now. It was only 6:10AM. Should I go home and try to get some sleep? If I did that, I’d just screw up my whole day. Should I go home and work on the computer? That would mean dealing with the dog and the kids. In either case, it meant having to leave about 8:30 and drive into the office.

So, I decided to take the easy(?) choice and headed into the office. You know, at 6:30 AM there isn’t much happening at work. But it gave me time to get through my e-mail, get caught up on news, and get a gradual start to my day. Maybe I should be getting here this early every day. I don’t think that’ll happen though. Maybe 8AM will work. We’ll just have to see.
