“Professional” Photos
For the first time in months, I had an opportunity to brush up on my photography skills. Karin wanted to get formal pics done to put on our Christmas cards, and to update the ones hanging on the wall. So out came the tripods, lights, camera, backdrops, clips, and other assorted items necessary to take portraits.
I spent an hour getting everything set up just right and taking test shots of Bethany. Then, it was time to get everyone dressed and start shooting pictures. As is often true in a case like this, the pics that I took turned out pretty good. Got a number of good shots of the kids, and a couple of Karin with the kids. The family shots all turned out to be duds. Remote triggering the camera didn’t work so well, and everything was blurry.
So after sorting through the 190 images I took during the shoot, Karin and I settled on 19 that we liked. We picked two that we wanted to use on the Christmas cards, upload them, and ordered 3 boxes of Christmas cards.
The next day, Karin bundled up the kids and drove across town to pick them up. Upon arrival, she was informed that in order to actually get the cards (which were already paid for), she would have to produce proof that she either owned or had permission to make prints of the “professional photographs”.
Quite the compliment for me, but a real pain for her. She ended up driving back home to get the memory card that contained the originals so that she could prove to the drug store clerk that she really did own the pictures.
So, I’ll let you all judge for yourself whether you think they’re professional or not. Enjoy!
