Spring has Sprung
Spring has arrived, and with it, the long list of improvements and yard work. Haven’t gotten around to mowing the lawn yet this season, but my dad and I spent last Saturday doing a little work in the yard to increase the “curb appeal” of the house.
When we bought the house, it had that tacky scalloped, concrete edging around the flower bed and the tree in the front yard. One of the goals for this Spring is to replace the edging with a nice looking retaining wall. The first step was to replace the edging around the tree.
It ended up taking us all day, and two trips to Home Depot to get it finished. Good thing Home Depot is only about a quarter mile away. By the time we got done, about 5PM, the wall around the tree was finished, and the yard was mostly put back together.
The next big project is to build the same kind of wall around the flower bed. The goal is to raise the flower bed up so that it is level. This much larger project will require considerable more blocks, and a bunch of fill dirt. Not sure when that project will start. Depends on when we get a dry weekend.
