Bethany’s First Road Trip - Day 5
Day 5 of the Bethany’s first road trip had the three ladies stopping at Mount Rushmore to see the sites. They spent about 2 hours there looking at the mountain and taking the tours. Then, it was back on the road.
Mom decided to take the back-road out of Mount Rushmore. Since it was noon, they decided they’d stop at the next fast food restaurant they found. Turns out, the next fast food restaurant was 2 hours down the road. They finally stopped for lunch at 2:00.
Last we had talked to them, they were going to try to make it to Gillette, WY. When they finally called Saturday night, they were in Livingston, MT, 25 miles east of Bozeman. Seems they had decided to go ahead and push it. Everything was fine until the last 45 minutes.
It was at that point that Bethany decided she has had enough. She started crying, and bawled all the way to the hotel. Mom and Karin were so tired, that they started crying too. Made for an interesting ride. When they finally stopped at the hotel in Livingston, Mom ran inside to get the room, and Karin opened the door to get Bethany out. As soon as the door opened, the stream of tears immediately dried up. Bethany had gotten what she wanted, so there was no need to cry anymore. It took mom and Karin a bit longer to recover emotionally, but they finally got to sleep.
Sunday’s plan is to make the drive to Spokane. They aren’t sure if they’ll call our friends who live out there or not. Depends on how tired they are after the day of driving.
Plan for Monday is to make the final cross state trip back home. Since Mom has never been to the new house, and Karin can’t remember how to get here, they’re going to stop by the office to see us. And probably get directions and keys to the place. Dad, Belldandy and I are all looking forward to having them home.
