Awakening from the Food Coma

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. And for the first time since we got married, Karin and I had family to share it with. My parents and my grandmother flew out a week ago Saturday and have spent the last week up here in the northwest. Turkey Day went well. We had our friends, Ed & Renee, over for brunch on Thrusday with their two foster children. After watching the Miami Dolphins whoop up on the Cowboys, we all headed to the dining room for Thanksgiving dinner. Karin, mom, and Granny did a wonderful job fixing it.

Friday morning, the ladies were up and out of the house by 8AM to hit all the sales. Dad and I got to stay home and watch Bethany. The ladies called about noon asking if we wanted to meet them for lunch, so we headed over to the mall. Not a fun time given the number of people who were there.

After lunch, the ladies decided to peruse the stores in the mall, so Dad and I hopped in the car with Bethany and headed down to the Apple Store in University Village. Lots of nice stuff, but, as usual, I couldn’t afford any of it. Anyone wanna donate to the “Get John a new PowerBook” fund? We made it back to the house about 4:30 and spent the rest of the evening watching TV and checking out the booty from the ladies shopping trip.

Saturday morning we all got up, most of us bundled up warm, and we headed out to see the countryside. Granny, being from Florida, didn’t know how to dress, so we didn’t make it very far before we headed back to the house for her to dress a little warmer. Then, it was off on a drive down Whidbey Island. We took Granny to a see the Mukilteo Lighthouse and the Admiralty Lighthouse. We tried to get to the Ft. Worden lighthouse on the penninsula, but bad timing getting to the ferry dock killed that idea. Two ferry trips later, we finally made it home.

Sunday evening, we had dinner at the Space Needle. Before heading up, we wandered around Seattle Center looking for good places to get pictures. Then it was on to dinner. We had planned on riding the Monorail downtown after dinner, but the cold weather made us cancel those plans. We headed home instead.
