Mariners 2, Braves 1
The Mariners were able to hold of the Braves this evening in the first game of a three game series. Karin and I decided to get tickets a couple weeks ago and managed to get some of the last tickets for the Friday night game. We ended up in the nose bleed section, 3rd deck, top row. But you get a pretty good view from up there, so it wasn’t bad at all. Rather than fight the traffic in downtown before and after the game, we drove down to the Northgate Park & Ride lot and caught the bus downtown. It dropped us off 2 blocks from the stadium. It was only $8 for the two of us to ride the bus to and from the stadium. Parking down there costs between $10 and $15 so it was a pretty good deal.
We got to the stadium about 5:30pm, an hour and a half before game time. This gave us time to walk around the stadium and check it out. We’ve been to a Mariners game before, 2 years ago, but that was with our Sunday School class, so we didn’t have any time to go exploring the stadium. This time around, we wandered around the mail level checking out the food court, the shops, and the kiddie play area. Safeco field really is a nice stadium.
About 6:30pm or so, we headed up to our seats, Karin’s $15 cheesburger, fries and water and my $9 jumbo dog and Dr Pepper in hand. We stayed up there for most of the game. Lots of good plays, and Jeff Nelson finished it off by striking out the final batter for the 2-1 win.
It was a fun 5+ hours. If we can scrounge up another $75, we’ll do it again. We also gotta start saving for baby’s first Mariner’s game too.
