Season Finale Silliness

May 14th, 2003 | jchaager | Entertainment

So, the end of the television season is upon us, and every network is trying to out do the others with specials. So, I thought a comment on a few shows I’ve watched in the past couple days. Some were season finales, some are lead ups to the season finales. So, in no particular order…. Charmed - For their Sweeps Month/Season Finale gimmick, they decided to do the Greek Goddess thing. It wasn’t too bad, but it was obvious from very early in the first hour that they were setting things up for next season. I suppose the biggest question is whether Leo is dead or not. If it were that easy to kill the Elders, do you really think someone wouldn’t have wiped them out long ago?

Gilmore Girls - This next to last episode was pretty good. The only glaring issue I have with it is the “Rory can’t get financial aid cause mommy just got a bunch of money” problem. I hate to have to say this, but that large sum of money won’t be a problem with financial aid until her Sophomore year. All financial aid decisions are made on last years tax return. Since Lorelei just received the money two episodes ago, it certainly hasn’t been claimed on the tax return yet.

Also, you’d think that someone as smart as Rory, the class valedictorian, would have more than just the $250 Kiwanis scholarship. I’m surprised Yale didn’t offer her a free ride.

Seventh Heaven - The only reason I watch this show is because my wife likes it. But it sure does like to beat its viewers over the head with the “Message of the Week”. This week, half the women in the Seventh Heaven world are having (or not having) their periods. Can we find some other topic please??

And how come the only person to figure out Ruthie’s problem is a boy?? None of the five women in the house are able to recognize PMS?? I find that hard to believe. I had it pegged 5 minutes into the show. She’s that age you know!!

What other nonsense do the networks have planned? We’ll see next week.
