Matrix Reloaded - Initial Reaction

May 15th, 2003 | jchaager | Entertainment

Another week, another date night. This time, my wife and I caught an opening night showing of the Matrix Reloaded. Here are a few of my spoiler free thoughts on the movie. The movie is very entertaining and has lots of fights, explosions and tension, just like the commercials show. But there is also quite a bit of philosophy on fate and free will. But most of that discussion occurs during the last third of the movie. The ending of the movie may be a let down for some as it sets up, in no uncertain terms, the third installment in this trilogy.

I found parts of this movie very captivating, and parts of it tedious. But, unlike most of the movie going public, I found the exposition and philosophy quite interesting, and the fight sequences and car chase excessively long.

The Matrix Reloaded gets 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. We’ll see how it holds up once the final movie is released late this year.
