Thoughts from a Human Shield
When I first heard about people volunteering to be human shields in Iraq, I was astounded by the insanity of it. Why would someone willfully choose to put themselves in harms way and wait for someone to bomb them? They must be out of their minds. Then, a couple weeks later, when they all left citing “safety issues”, I chuckled along with the rest of America.
But what was going through the minds of these people? Why had they chosen to leave Iraq? The Daily Telegraph in London has an editorial by one of these human shields. His brief stay in Iraq opened his eyes to the reality of life in Iraq.
Why are we at war with Iraq? To bring the freedom from oppression that the Iraqi people hope and pray for.
